Mary Jones, Senior Copywriter
Mary sees the writing process as a Virigina Woolf novel: clean, precise, a little boring, sometimes painful, but made transcendent by one brilliant final phrase. She has been involved in medical marketing and copywriting since 2004, and has been working exclusively in healthcare copywriting since she finished her Master’s degree in 2008.
Before her days at 4D Mary’s life was, to be admitted, much less bright and meaningful. Despite this, she did manage to find her silver lining at agencies such as Greater Than One, TheMixxNYC, and Lodging Interactive. While at GTO, Mary wrote copy and developed strategy for a groundbreaking micro-advertising campaign. This campaign was intended to persuade individuals to get routine check-ups. Very important, these check-ups.
Mary has written copy for iPhone apps, videos, emails, consumer and HCP websites, press kits, newsletters, press releases, invitations, digital billboards, medical conference decks, and desktop applications.
Mary has worked with companies such as Meda Pharmaceuticals, sanofi aventis, Cephalon, Pfizer, Biosensors International, Biogen Idec, Novartis, and Cells for Cells (a charitable organization which raises money for cancer treatment through cell phone recycling initiatives).
Growing up, Mary’s father instilled in her a passion for expensive pieces of paper. This has led her to collect a BA in Creative Writing from Northwestern University and an MA in English Literature from Rutgers University. When she is not writing in the office, she is writing her novel at home. And when she is not doing that, she is taking pictures, she is traveling, and she is museum-going. Currently, she needs to update her blog and her Facebook profile, but cannot understand how anyone finds the time to do such things these days.
It shows how dry the Pharma world can be, that I am excited about sneaking this into a new business pitch. Sigh
